What is the cost for parking at Devereux Beach?

Non-Residents and Residents without a Resident Facility Sticker Parking: Parking is available in the main Lot at Devereux and the Riverhead Lot. We accept credit cards. If you are a resident of Marblehead and are interested in purchasing a resident facility sticker, please click here.

Monday — Thursday: Residents: $15 / Non-residents: $25

Friday — Sunday + Holidays: Residents: $20 / Non-residents: $30

Who is in charge of Goldthwait Beach?

The Goldthwait Reservation is managed by volunteer Directors and Trustees and is private property.  For more information, please see the Goldthwait Reservation website.

Who maintains the school grounds?

The School Department has overall responsibility for its properties. However, the Park Department staff cut, trim, clean, and maintain the grounds, and also line the playing fields for the various sports teams throughout town.

Can I park at the Community Center when the Marblehead High School parking lot is full?

No. Parking at the Center is for those utilizing the facility; also, the fire lanes and no parking areas are strictly enforced to keep the area open for the shuttle buses, meals on wheels, and other Town or recreational program traffic.

Can I reserve a field for an athletic team?

Marblehead athletic teams have first choice, then it is first come, first served. Please submit an email to Recreation & Parks with your request.

Are dogs allowed on Town playgrounds and/or areas where athletics take place?

No, dogs are not allowed in any area that is used for athletics or as a playground, even if leashed. Bacteria from their waste can cause illness in children, even if it is picked up immediately.

How long can I leave a boat trailer at Riverhead Beach when I use the boat ramp?

You can leave your boat trailer at Riverhead Beach while using the boat ramp for a period not to exceed 24 hours.

Who empties the Town trash barrels?

The Park Department staff empties the 170 green barrels found around town.  In the summer we have seasonal employees to help with the demand; in the winter, when we have only a small full-time staff, many of the barrels are brought in for repainting and repair.

Is there a field maintenance schedule?

In general, fields are cut and maintained based on weather, manpower, equipment availability and the field usage schedules and on the season of play.

Can I rent an area in a Town park or a room in the Judy and Gene Jacobi Community Center?

Recreation and Parks does rent out Judy and Gene Jacobi Community Center facilities, as well as, providing permits for certain outdoor spaces for up to 3 hours.  To do so an application must be completed with the details of the event.  Once that is submitted a staff member will check availability, reserve the space if available and reconcile payment.  Any special requests for use of either an indoor or outdoor space must go to the Board for approval at their next regularly scheduled meeting.  Click here for the complete details and guidelines, as well as to access the necessary applications.
