Traffic Change Request Form

By using this form, you will help us assess the type of issues or concerns you are having with a street in your neighborhood. We will then gather additional data, such as crash records and speed studies. This information, together with any related roadway work schedules, will help us prioritize your request among others we’ve received.

Certain requests related to signs (Stop, Speeding, etc.), do not require the review of the Traffic Advisory Committee, and will be reviewed by the Police, Highway and Engineering Departments.

Traffic Improvement/Change Petition

The Traffic Advisory Committee (TAC) is formed by and reports to the Select Board with recommendations. The Petitioner and other parties who may in the Committee’s judgement be substantially affected by such a petition will be notified of the date the petition will be discussed by the Traffic Advisory Committee. After submitting this request, the Traffic Advisory Committee will respond to you in approximately 30 days. The process will then follow with a Hearing Date in approximately 90 days and a recommendation from this Committee in about 120 days.

What is traffic calming? The goal of traffic calming is to make streets safer for people to bike, walk and drive. Making physical changes to the roadway, such as horizontal shifts (curb extensions, chicanes) and vertical shifts (raised crosswalks and intersections), helps reduce speeding and enhances the quality of life by making the street more comfortable for all users. A Stop sign is used to indicate that traffic is always required to stop before entering an intersection. Stop signs should not be used for speed control.
