Snow Emergency Parking Ban declared for Sunday, Feb. 22 at 9 p.m. The ban will end when conditions are safe.

Due to forecasted blizzard conditions and significant snow accumulations, the snow emergency parking ban has been declared. Due to the unpredictable length of this storm event, the ban will not be lifted until the road conditions are safe.

When the ban is lifted, communications through social media and the Town Website will be provided.

It will be illegal to park any vehicle, including boats and trailers on any public way during the snow emergency parking ban.  Any vehicle, boat or trailer that is not off the public way during the ban will be subject to being ticketed and or towed. Depositing snow and ice, on or against a fire hydrant, or on any sidewalk or roadway is prohibited.

If your vehicle is towed during a snow emergency, you should call the Marblehead Police Department at 781-631-1212 to confirm the location of your vehicle. All vehicles are towed to the designated Town tow lot at the Transfer Station at 5 Woodfin Terrace Marblehead, or 171 Boston Street Salem, MA by Todisco Towing.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed, limit travel when possible, and take the following necessary precautions to remain safe during the storm.

  • Make sure your house number is clear of snow and can be seen from the street. If you need help, First Responders will be able to find you.
  • Be ready in case the power goes out. Have flashlights on hand. Also, have battery-powered lighting and fresh batteries. Never use candles.
  • Stay aware of weather forecast. Listen to the television or radio for updates. The Town Website and Police/Fire Social Media pages will post updates.
  • Check on neighbors. Check on others who may need help.
  • Generators should be used outdoors. Keep them away from windows and doors. Do not run a generator inside your garage, even if the door is open.
  • Stay away from downed wires. Report any downed wires to 911.
  • Be ready if the heat stops working. Use extra layers of clothes and blankets to stay warm. If you use an emergency heat source, keep anything that can burn
    at least 3 feet away.
  • Turn portable heaters off when you leave the room.
  • Turn them off when you go to bed.
