The Licensing Division of the Select Board Office manages the issuance, renewal, and enforcement of licenses and permits under the authority of the Marblehead Select Board. This includes a wide range of business, event, and operational licenses to ensure compliance with state law and local regulations while supporting public safety, health, and welfare.
Licenses Administered by the Select Board Include:
- Alcoholic Beverages Licenses (Section 12 & Section 15)
- Common Victualler (food service) Licenses
- Entertainment Licenses
- Lodging House Licenses
- One-Day Special Alcohol Licenses
- Livery and Taxi Licenses
- Automatic Amusement Devices
- Class I, II, and III Motor Vehicle Licenses
- Hawker & Peddler Licenses
- Shellfish and Seasonal Licenses (as applicable)
Alcohol Licensing
The Select Board serves as the Local Licensing Authority (LLA) and works in partnership with the Massachusetts Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission (ABCC). All alcohol-related applications must comply with ABCC rules in addition to local requirements.
